On iOS, DPN's VPN tunnel runs through a Network Extension separately from the DPN app interface. Apple documents packet tunnel providers as app extensions and notes that a containing app may not be running while its extension is running. Swiping DPN away after it is already in the background can therefore close the app interface without disconnecting the active VPN tunnel. To disconnect, open DPN so it is active in the foreground. Then either open the App Switcher and swipe up on DPN to close it, or tap Disconnect in DPN.

Find answers about DPN features, downloads, and iOS VPN behavior, including why the VPN can stay connected after DPN is swiped away in the background.
DPN is a privacy-oriented app from Deeper Network that combines per-app smart routing, selectable tunnels, and network-level ad and tracker filtering.
DPN can be used as a VPN alternative for users who want smart per-app routing instead of routing every app through one tunnel.
Per-app routing lets selected apps use encrypted tunnels while local apps can stay direct for compatibility and native speed.
DNS/IP filtering can block requests to configured domains across supported traffic. HTTPS filtering coverage depends on certificate and platform support; on Android it works in web browsers only.
